In the middle of June 2003 I decided to spend the summer on building a toy I find fascinating
- live steam locomotive, in 1:32 scale. After some search for plans I've decided to base my model on German BR-80.
I was very happy to find its drawings and a lot of useful info at
Aufbau und Technik der Dampflokomotive site.
After quite sucessful trial to make a working engine I have decided to spend some time on designing my loco in such a way that most of the parts could be laser cut. It turned out that preventing various components from collision and preserving their original shape while being constrained by technology available is hard a task for me.
The design process is almost finished and now I'm looking for a cheap laser cutting.
I'm however still unsure whether the design is sound - especially doubtful is the cylinder block.
