The conference venue will be the Institute of Theoretical Physics, which is located at 69 Hoza Str. in Warsaw. Upon arriving at the Institute please register in the conference office which will be located in the SST lecture hall, room no. 228, ground level. You can reach SST by entering the building of the Institute of Experimental Physics through the main entrance (see photo), then go straight ahead, turn right at the T-junction of hallways, follow the hallway up to the very end, and turn left. The path to follow will be indicated by the conference signs. Lectures will be read in the lecture hall "Nowa Aula", room no. 425. The Institute of Theoretical Physics is conveniently located in a quiet street in downtown Warsaw, 300m. from the Warsaw Central Station. Several tram and bus stops are nearby, and the metro "Centrum" station is at 400m. Participants are invited to check on the Faculty of Physics www pages to find information on how to get to Hoza Street, and to obtain several area maps. Polish currency is called "zloty" (zl). It is not tied up to any other currency, and its exchange rate is based on its market value. The current exchange rate is about 4.50 zl/$. It varies on a daily basis, and more-or-less follows the Polish ~10% inflation rate. You can buy and sell Polish zlotys at numerous exchange offices (called "kantor") or in banks. In particular you can exchange money at the airport, both before and after the custom's control. The exchange fees are fairly low - in exchange offices they are usually below 1%. You can also get zlotys at numerous automatic teller machines that accept most major credit or debit cards.
Participants are kindly requested to: The number of participants is limited by the capacity of our lecture hall, and the participants will be accepted on a first-come first-served basis, according to the time of the on-line registration. Registered participants will receive meals (lunches, cold suppers, conference banquet, and coffee and snacks during the coffee breaks), conference portfolio, and a copy of printed volume with the proceedings. Reduced conference fees will be granted by the Organizing Committee,
depending on the availability of funds in
the conference budget. Eligible participants should apply for the reduced
conference fee by making such a request in the "Comment" section of
the conference registration form. Each participant will receive a properly executed receipt for the amount of the paid conference fee. The conference fee will cover meals (lunches, cold suppers, conference banquet, and coffee and snacks during the coffee breaks), conference portfolio, and a copy of printed volume with the proceedings. The conference fee will not cover the hotel expenses.
A number of hotels, hotels, and hotels are available in downtown Warsaw. For participants wishing to organize their stay through the conference secretary office, in some hotels we have booked blocks of rooms at special conference rates:
Because of inflation and varying exchange rates, the prices given in the table are tentative, and can be slightly different at the time of the conference. The table also gives an approximate distance from the hotel to the conference site. Frequent public transportation is available from the Sokrates hotel. Grand-Orbis hotel is located near the crossing of the Hoza and Krucza Streets (at the border of the area map). Sokrates is a modest-standard University hotel. Other hotels in walking distance from the conference site are, for example, Marriott, Holiday Inn, Forum, Metropol, Polonia, and MDM.
The hotel reservation form should be filled in
to reserve a room in one of the available hotels.
The deadline for the hotel reservation is fixed at January 31, 2001.
The number of available rooms is limited and
the reservations will be processed on a first-come first-served basis.
The secretary office will confirm your reservation by E-mail. Participants wishing to arrive with an accompanying person are welcome to reserve double rooms at special conference rates. Those who wish to reserve larger rooms or suites may contact the Organizing Committee for assistance. Participants who wish to share a double room with another participant should indicate his/her name on the hotel reservation form.
Please note that the organizers and the conference secretary office
are responsible only for transmitting your on-line reservation to
the hotel management. Please pay your bill directly at the hotel.
The Organizing Committee will attribute a limited number of grants to cover
the hotel expenses during the conference. To be eligible for the grant one
has to register and pay the conference fee before December 31, 2000. A request for the
grant should be made in the "Comment" section of the conference registration form, or by updating the previous registration. The hotel reservation form should be filled in at the same
time. Priority in receiving the grants will go to students and participants
from disadvantaged countries. Each hotel grant will cover up to six days in
one of the conference hotels.
