Many people use Lynx for a variety of reasons. Some choose Lynx for its speed. Others prefer not to view the graphical advertisements present on many web pages. Someone may be using Lynx because their service provider has only text-based terminals or other limited resources. Many Lynx users are visually-impaired and rely on screen reading programs working with Lynx to browse the web. Since Lynx is updated almost daily by the volunteers on Lynx-dev, it keeps up with the latest in HTML, the web and other technology much better than other browsers can.
There are still other reasons to use Lynx as well.
