8th Warsaw School of Statistical Physics
The school is primarily aimed at introducing young scientists (PhD students and early career researchers) to the most important areas of research in the field of statistical physics and its applications to complex natural systems. The School will be an opportunity for participants to interact directly with leading scientists in this rapidly growing field, with lecture courses given by:
Arezki Boudaoud
Ecole Polytechnique, France
“Plant growth: a journey across scales”
Julyan Cartwright
Universidad de Granada, Spain
“Pattern formation in nature”
Fabian Essler
University of Oxford, UK
“Non-equilibrium dynamics of many-particle quantum systems and conservation laws”
Randy Kamien
University of Pennsylvania, USA
“The Geometry and Topology of Soft Materials”
Roberto M. Serra
Federal University of ABC, São Paulo, Brazil
“Quantum Thermodynamics”
The lectures will be supplemented by problem solving sessions, giving a practical insight into the concepts discussed. Further information can be found on the website. The school poster can be found here.
