On the 9th of March 2017, at 10:15 a.m.
Józef H. Przytycki (The George Washington University)
will give a talk on
"Introduction to Khovanov homology"
Abstract
We offer gentle introduction to Khovanov homology. We start
from chain complexes and classical examples of homology (for
simplicial complexes, groups and quandles). We introduce the notion of (pre)simplicial sets (and modules) and (pre)cubic sets (and modules). We show how to construct geometric realization of (pre)simplicial and (pre)cubic sets. We give an elementary definition of Khovanov homology of links and discuss geometric realization in extreme and almost extreme grading.
The seminar takes place on Thursdays from 10:15 a.m. to 12:00
in the room 2.23 of the main building of the Faculty of Physics (the 2nd floor), Pasteur Str. 5,
Warszawa.
