ProgramConference photo (1.2MB):ScopeThe goal of this meeting is to bring together leading scientists working in the field of correlated electron systems in nanostructures and to organize vivid and informal discussions. The atmosphere, as in the case of previous workshops, will stimulate discussions, informal contacts, and new acquaintances. Workshop FormatThe workshop program, scheduled for three days, will contain 20 key speakers 40 min talks and poster presentations. The scope will cover the phenomena caused by the interaction of excitons with electrons in low dimensional semiconductor structures with low carrier densities:
The workshop is an inheritance of the NATO ARW on "Optical Properties of 2D systems with interacting electrons" held in St. Petersburg, Russia, June 2002; NATO ARW 976512 on "Optical Probing of Many-Body Effects in Nanostructures" held in June 2000 in Wuerzburg, Germany and the Workshop "Excitons and carriers in confined systems", February 1999, Obory, Poland. Time and locationThe Workshop will be held on 10-13 June, 2004, in Warsaw, Poland, in conference center of The Institute of Biocybernetics and Biomedical Engineering, 4, Trojdena Street. It is located 20 minutes by public transport from the downtown, in a peaceful part of Warsaw, with parks and others institutes around. On Thursday June 10 we plan to have only a registration (starting from about 5 p.m.) and dinner with informal discussions. The lectures are planned from Friday morning until Sunday afternoon (5 p.m.). The hotels are booked from June 10 until Monday June 14. ArrivalLanguageAll contributions should be presented in English that is the official language of the Workshop. No simultaneous translation services will be provided. Confirmed Invited SpeakersSo far following invited speakers confirmed their participation:
Submission of ContributionsPlease, send one-page abstract (pdf) to: op2ds@fuw.edu.pl Deadline for abstracts is 20 IV 2004. RegistrationThere is no fee for the workshop. Deadline for registration is 1 V 2004 Estimated cost of
lodging and meals is 300 EUR. PublicationThe abstracts of contributed presentations will be published in a conference booklet. Invited talks will be published in a special issue of Acta Physica Polonica A. Optionally, selected contributed papers will be also published. Manuscripts of maximum 10 journal pages should be submitted during the workshop. This deadline is imposed by the publication schedule. Instruction for authors can be found on the Acta Physica Polonica web page: http://info.ifpan.edu.pl/ACTA/acta.home.html. One journal page contains approximately 42 lines with 79 characters per line. AccommodationMost of participants will be accommodated in the hotel of the conference site (hotel of The Institute of Biocybernetics and Biomedical Engineering) and two neighboring hotels (walking distance). If you prefer more comfort you can reserve your room in Sobieski hotel. There is also Novotel not very far from the conference site.
